Based on the Victor Hugo novel and Disney movie of the same name, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is set in 1482 Paris, France. It follows Quasimodo, the deformed hunchback bell ringer of the cathedral, who is kept locked away in the Cathedral’s bell tower by Frollo, his master and the archdeacon. Quasimodo yearns for to experience life outside his tower. On the Feast of Fools, Quasimodo sneaks out of the church and meets the beautiful gypsy woman, Esmeralda, who shows him compassion against the ridicule of the celebrating mob who has crowned him the ugliest fool in Paris. Frollo and Phoebus de Martin also become entranced with the young gypsy. Frollo struggles with his attraction to Esmeralda, and condemns her as an attempted murderer and witch. The story follows Quasimodo as he teams up with Phoebus to try to save Esmeralda from Frollo's relentless pursuit.
